Google announces three third-party speakers featuring Assistant

Among the smart speakers which will be capable of speaking with Google Assistant is Anker's Zolo Mojo, Panasonic's GA10 and Mobvoi's TicHome Mini. The voice-activated application is incorporated within the Google Home device, as well as a wide range of Google and Android smartphones, tablets and other smart devices. Each is due out later this year and will be available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the US, and United Kingdom. As of Friday 25 August, Apple users in the UK, Germany and France can install Google's answer to Siri for free. They're competing to becoming the primary voice operating system, and want to see their assistants in other devices like cars, thermostats and other products.

Of course, LG has its own smart home platform and it is beefing that up as well.

Back in May, Google announced that it was releasing an SDK so anybody could make a smart speaker featuring the Google Assistant. It will be up for sale in two colour variants - Black and White. It's as easy as "Ok Google, start vacuuming". With the integration of voice assistant, users can ask questions like "Ok Google, is the laundry done?". Virtual assistants are essentially modern day "genies" that get things done for you without ever uttering the typical "your wish is my command, master" catchphrase. Google followed suit earlier this year by making the Google Assistant SDK available to developers, and we're now starting to see the first thrid-party products powered by Google Assistant. What you share with the Assistant is up to you, "and the more you use it, the more useful it gets". Google is also working on partnering with a bunch of home automation systems for Google Assistant; these include Honeywell, Netatmo and TP-Link. Google and its partners have yet to share detailed specs for these devices, so we don't actually know what the differences are, other than a varying industrial designs.
