The entire area was sealed by CRPF and state police personnel early this morning.

Simultaneous raids were carried out by teams of the anti-terror agency on the houses of Ghulam Nabi Sumji, senior separatist leader of Syed Ali Shah Geelani's Hurriyat group, Zameer Thakur, a close aide of Shabir Shah, and Showkat Bakshi, a senior leader of the JKLF.

"Sumji's house and shopping complex in Bijbehara were searched for nearly five hours while shopkeepers in his complex were also questioned". Nobody other than the accounts manager was allowed in or out of Aga's Police-protected residence.

Froom Razzaq's place, three arms - a pistol, a double-barrel gun and a.3 15 bore rifle were recovered, possession of which is being investigated. Even the NIA press release in the evening did not mention any weapons having been seized from any locations.

The separatist leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik had yesterday announced that they would stage a sit-in in front of NIA headquarters in New Delhi on September 9 and court arrest to protest "unjustifiable NIA raids and vilification of Kashmiri people by the investigation agency".

Prior to his arrest, JKLF chairman while talking to media person outside JKLF office said that this arrest actually shows the hollowness of NIA claims about so-called terror funding. "They are suspected of fuelling secessionist and subversive activities in the State", IG NIA said.

During the searches, FDs worth over Rs 1 crore, and lots of incriminating material, suspect's financial records, property-related documents and electronic devices have been seized.
