On Wednesday, eight residents at a Hollywood nursing home died and 145 were evacuated as residents were stuck in sweltering heat after Hurricane Irma knocked out the facility's air conditioning.

Broward County Mayor Barbara Sharief said three were found dead at the Hollywood, Fla., nursing home and two others died at a hospital.

On Key West, at the end of the archipelago, hundreds of residents who had refused evacuation orders lined up on Wednesday outside the island's Salvation Army outpost for water and military-style rations after enduring days of intense heat with little water, power or contact with the outside world.

Including the nursing home deaths, at least 25 people in Florida have died under Irma-related circumstances, and six more in SC and Georgia, many of them well after the storm had passed. In Hollywood, where the nursing home is located, temperatures are expected to reach the 90s this week. Gallagher said it was the first time the facility admitted it had no power.

Kitchen employee Jean Lindor said the nursing home's generator was sufficient to supply power for cooking, but the facility had no air conditioning after the storm struck.

Eight residents died at the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills after the facility lost air conditioning.

About 150 of the Florida's almost 700 nursing facilities were without electricity as of Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Health Care Association, which represents majority.

Four more patients died at or en route to hospital and a fifth was later identified as having died the night before, officials said.

"Facility administration has been in communication with Florida Power & Light and the governor's office since the beginning of Hurricane Irma, and is cooperating fully with relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances that led to this unfortunate and tragic outcome".

The deaths are under investigation.

A press officer for Scotland Yard told Daily Star Online the force is yet to identify any suspects in connection to the bombing. Police say several people have been injured in the rush-hour incident on a Tube train at Parsons Green station in west London.

The five women and three men ranged in age from 70 to 99.

Call after call was made from the Rehabilitation Center nursing home in Hollywood Hills, Florida to emergency services as elderly patients slipped into cardiac arrest and respiratory failure.

"I'm very concerned. I'm like a family member to her", he said.

Gail Matillo, president and CEO of the assisted living industry group Florida Argentum, said Wednesday that most of those facilities had their power restored.

Dr. Randy Katz, director of emergency services at Memorial Regional Hospital, which is next to the nursing home, said there were extremely hot temperatures on the nursing home's second floor. County officials released documents showing that the Hollywood facility was in compliance with that regulation and that it held a hurricane drill with its staff in October. Many stores remain closed because of the lack of electricity, meaning people are converging on the relatively few shops and eateries that are open.
