Nadal thrashes Kyrgios to win China Open title

Nadal defeated Nick Kyrgios on Sunday (8 October) to emerge victorious in Beijing for the first time since 2005, bagging his sixth title of the year in the process. The Frenchwoman will make her top-10 debut when the new rankings come out on Monday.

Garcia was broken in the first game of the final but recovered to claim a 6-4, 7-6 win and secure her second consecutive crown following her recent triumph at the Wuhan Open.

Nadal, appearing in his 110th career final, maintained his dominance during the second set breaking the world No 19 twice before wrapping up the match with a comfortable service hold to extend his match winning streak to 12.

Since then, it's been plain sailing with wins over Karen Khachanov and John Isner with his eyes firmly set on a fourth China Open final.
