England's Tyrrell Hatton put himself in line to become the first player to successfully defend the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship after a seven-under-par 65 at Carnoustie on Friday.
Hatton, 25, opened up a seven-shot lead with four birdies on the front nine and gained a further shot on the 14th - he dropped only two shots during the tournament - to finish three ahead of fellow Englishman Fisher for his second European Tour title.
The Englishman equalled the course record at the home of golf previous year on his way to a four-shot victory and a first European Tour title, and a bogey-free 65 put him in a commanding position to defend his crown.
Hatton had said before he teed off that to win at the Home of Golf once was incredible, but to do it twice would be "a dream come true". Fisher made 11 birdies in a stunning 61 on an unforgettable day that saw both players enter the history books. "I got off to a fast start and made some early putts".
Aussie officials expecting Serena Williams to defend title
The 2018 Australian Open has been officially launched with the world's top tennis players committed to playing in the tournament. Tiley said the winners' prizemoney had broken a "barrier" that "has not been done by any other grand slam or any other event".
Fisher said: "I felt like there was a good one in me today because there wasn't much breeze".
"My last round of 2017 summed up my season in 2017, stuck in neutral", he said, although he still believes the prep work to be done in the next few weeks will set him up for a return to glories in 2018. Not much happening, good or bad. It still broke the course record by one stroke, but it wasn't exactly the finish he had in mind.
Playing his first event since becoming a father for the first time last week, Fleetwood birdied six of the last eight holes to complete a bogey-free round and beat the course record by a shot.
Jamie Donaldson and Kieran McManus combined for a closing 56 to get to 40 under and win the team event by three shots.
Dodgers Take Care of Business, Complete Sweep
The performance by Darvish provided more reason to believe the Dodgers might have the staying power, but his was not the only one. After Cameron Maybin entered as a pinch runner for Gattis, George Springer drew a walk off Kimbrel before Reddick's big hit.
Just imagine the damage someone like Dustin Johnson could have done on a day like Sunday round there, though McIlroy, admittedly, is another of the game's long-hitters and that didn't seem to do him any good on this occasion.
After winning this tournament 12 months ago, Steele maintained his position in the FedExCup standings for the entire season but failed to make the 30-man field at the Tour Championship.
Because it's played on three courses - St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns - the Alfred Dunhill Championship has a 54-hole cut which will be determined at the end of Saturday's play. The Frenchman finished fully ten swings back of playing partner and victor Tyrrell Hatton but will be pleased with his week's work.
Columbus Day should be a national holiday
Several states, including Texas and California , do not recognize Columbus Day as a paid holiday for its government employees. Additionally, he requested that the flag of the United States be displayed on public buildings in honor of the day.
