Scientists discover hidden chamber in Great Pyramid

It is still unclear what the exact structure and function of the newly discovered void is, but the finding may enable future researchers to understand more about the pyramid and its construction. These particles rain down and lose energy as they pass through materials - like the thick stones of the pyramid - and that makes them slow down and decay.

An worldwide team of researchers identified a large internal cavity at least 30 metres long above the Grand Gallery - a steeply slanted passageway which connects two other chambers, known as the "Queen's Chamber" and the "King's Chamber".

A large, hidden void has been uncovered deep inside the Great Pyramid of Giza with the help of a state-of-the-art imaging system which can "see" through stone.

The report says the mysterious void is 98 feet long and sits above the structure's Grand Gallery, located in the center of the landmark.

Buffalo Bills acquire Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin
Benjamin missed the 2015 season due to an ACL tear, and this season he is experiencing some pain in that same knee. For the Panthers, the move is a bit more puzzling, considering Benjamin provided a big target for Cam Newton.

Archaeology workers toil in front of the Great Pyramid, in Giza, Egypt, in 2010. It is still unclear what objective the void served.

While future research and non-invasive imaging are to be done by researchers, there are no plans to open up the void given the pyramid's importance and with no known pathways or tunnels connect to it.

Using sensitive detectors that identify changes in speed, these muons can accurately give us an image of empty spaces in buildings.

Muon detection has improved significantly since it was developed in the 1960s, so Tayoubi and his colleagues were able to use three advanced muon-detection techniques-nuclear-emulsion films, hodoscopes, and ardon gas-based detection.

Nintendo's Black Friday deals are flawless for 'Legend of Zelda' fans
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D comes pre-installed on the system, so there is no game cartridge to lose. Thus, this Black Friday Explorer Edition is another good reason to get the game if you haven't yet.

They saw those rooms but, to their surprise, they found an additional large space as well.

One archaeologist, who recently discovered a long lost waterway to the ancient pyramids, says the void could have been intentionally put there by the ancient Egyptians. Now we are sure that there is a void.

"We avoid the word chamber because it is not a chamber, but we know that it is a void", said Mehdi Tayoubi, an author of the study from the HIP Institute in France. "I think it's now time for Egyptologists and specialists in ancient Egypt architecture to collaborate with us, to provide us with some hypotheses", he said.

"That's the good thing about the muon project, there's absolutely no damage to the pyramid at all", says Manuelian. Egyptologists banned the use of destructive methods to study the pyramids.
