Who is George Papadopoulos and why is he important to the ongoing investigation?

The top Democrat on the House intelligence committee says the United States is "marginally better prepared" to prevent Russian interference in US elections.

Manafort and business partner Rick Gates pleaded not guilty October 31 in the first criminal allegations in Mueller's probe of possible Russian influence in US political affairs.

WASHINGTON-A former Trump campaign adviser told Congress he had a private conversation with a Russian deputy prime minister during the 2016 presidential campaign and that at least two members of the president's team were aware, providing more details to what is publicly known about Moscow's access to U.S. President Donald Trump's circle, according to a congressional transcript released late Monday.

But prosecutors said they needed an independent appraisal of that Fifth Avenue property, since Manafort was claiming a fair-market value of the unit that appeared to exceed other outside estimates. Page said he also told Sam Clovis, another campaign aide.

Zimbabwe's Mugabe sacks vice-president Mnangagwa
Mnangagwa had been vice president since 2014 when his predecessor, Joice Mujuru, was sacked for allegedly plotting to oust Mugabe. Mnangagwa's dismissal is with immediate effect for among other reasons disloyalty, disrespect, deceit and being unreliable.

Schiff told the AP that his committee is probing "anyone and everyone affiliated with the Trump campaign" and the interactions they had with the Russians.

He said he was unaware at the time that Papadopoulos was making similar proposals for Trump to travel to Russian Federation, though he acknowledged he had received some of Papadopoulos' emails about Russian Federation.

He also said he told Sam Clovis, a former co-chairman and policy adviser to Trump's campaign, about his trip.

Gordon said he does not recall the email but that he had discouraged Page from going to Moscow.

Page called the encounter "just a brief greeting".

Page's July 2016 trip to Moscow drew attention during the campaign, particularly after WikiLeaks released emails that had been hacked from the Democratic National Committee a few weeks later and Russian Federation became a controversial campaign topic.

Page has often been contradictory about whom he met on the trip, but his testimony Thursday was under oath.

For months, Page has denied meeting with Russian government officials while in Moscow. At the Republican National Convention, Page told the committee that he spoke with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak and the subject of USA sanctions on Russia "may have briefly come up in some context".

"If you'd like to go on your own, not affiliated with the campaign, you know, that's fine", Page recalled Lewandowski telling him about the trip.

President Trump also calls the Russian Federation investigation a witch hunt and has repeatedly said there was no collusion between his campaign and the Kremlin. He said he discussed "foreign policy things" with the ambassador and that he had some "general" discussions of U.S. -Russia relations with she and other Hungarian officials - though he could recall few specifics.
