'Last Jedi' director Rian Johnson to oversee new 'Star Wars' trilogy

All New Star Wars Trilogy Coming After Episode IX

'Star Wars' confirms Rian Johnson will create another all-new trilogy

Fans still have to wait a month to see Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but Lucasfilm's latest actions more or less confirm the eighth episode in the Skywalker saga is something special.

The final installment in the current trilogy, "Star Wars: Episode IX", will be written and directed by J.J. Abrams and scheduled for release in December 2019. If your anticipation for The Last Jedi wasn't already at a fever pitch, the confirmation the studio is making Johnson the custodian of Star Wars' future is all you needed to hear. The long-term pact with Johnson comes on the heels of Lucasfilm having some rocky relations with filmmakers on other "Star Wars" movies.

Ultra-quick reshoots cutting Kevin Spacey out of new film
Spacey's former publicist said last week that the actor was "taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment". The decision to erase Spacey comes after a string of allegations about the actor's predatory sexual behaviour.

Lucasfilm announced on Thursday that Johnson would helm a new Star Wars trilogy that would be "separate from the episodic Skywalker saga".

Disney said no release dates had been set for the new trilogy.

Report Warns Some Fidget Spinners Could Expose Kids To Lead
Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. The center circle of the Fidget Wild Premium Spinner Brass tested for 33,000 parts per million of lead, the group said.

Johnson, 43, will write and direct the first of a new "Star Wars" trilogy that will bring new characters and worlds not yet explored on screen, Disney said. Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, referred to Johnson as a "creative force" and that watching him make "The Last Jedi" was one of her favorite moments of her storied career. "Rian will do fantastic things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy". While there is always the chance that Disney will opt to start a brand new original story, there is actually a character already in their arsenal that would make for the flawless character for a television series... and her name is Doctor Aphra.

We're nearly two movies into the third trilogy of the Star Wars saga but Disney is already gearing up for the next three films - and we don't mean the stand-alone ones.

Roy Moore calls allegations against him 'completely false'
The statement also notes that Moore has been married to the same woman for 33 years and has four children and five grandchildren. Moore's campaign did not immediately respond Friday to a request for comment about the NRSC's decision to abandon the race.

These announcements add to the heaps of Star Wars content on the horizon.
