Meek Mill Heads to Prison to Start His Sentence Despite Public Outcry

The Philadelphia rapper has violated the terms on his probation in the past and has served time in prison, as well as house arrest.

Born and raised in Philly, Meek Mill grew a local following in the hip-hop scene before gaining national recognition.

Meek Mill's lawyer isn't the only one confounded by the two-to-four-year prison sentence handed down on Monday (Nov. 6) by a Pennsylvania Common Pleas Court judge over the rapper's probation violation.

He was moved Tuesday from the city's Curran-Fromhold Correction Facility in the Northeast to the state prison at Graterford in Montgomery County. While there is some confusion online about whether the petition was started by Wolf, it's clearly addressed to him and the petition states it will be delivered to Wolf.

But Mill's attorney Joe Tacopina told Billboard he believes the case was personal for Judge Brinkley, and her sentence stems from an "infatuation" with the rapper.

In addition to that whole Boyz II Men thing, Tacopina says Brinkley is "infatuated" with his client.

Tacopina's allegations referred to an in-chambers meeting during an earlier probation violation hearing, on February 5, 2016, that was requested by Mill and his then-attorney Frank DeSimone.
